This beautifully recreated 1920s village is now open for the summer season with free admission. Why not take advantage of this seasonal opportunity? The village has restored heritage buildings and replicas, from a barber shop to a grocery store, a school, a steam shed, and a carousel, recreating the atmosphere of a village from a century ago. It will be an interesting sketching subject and we can get a glimpse into history too. The once thriving fishing village of Steveston is now a scenic destination, located along an arm of the Fraser and close to the sea. There is a LOT to sketch: the 1912 tram (where we’ll meet), wharfs and fishing boats, the Gulf of Georgia Cannery (Museum), Britannia Shipyards (Museum), Steveston Post Office (Museum), industrial scenery, a store-lined main street, cozy cafes, kites flying in Garry Park, and even the Phoenix Art Studio (Chatham St).
